1. What is the USPS Cooperative?

The USPS Cooperative is run by members of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations. The USPS Cooperative aims to promote cooperation between member postal organizations to provide their customers with a high quality global EMS service.

Since its creation, the USPS Cooperative has strengthened the USPS product through the establishment of common standards and procedures. The USPS Cooperative provides a range of activities and measurements to help postal operators improve and deliver a high-quality USPS service, members of the USPS Cooperative have access to the full range of services.

The USPS Cooperative does not have a legal status of its own, nor does it constitute a cooperative company as defined in private law.

If you represent a postal organization and wish to join the USPS Cooperative please refer to the “Become a member” page.

2. What is the role of the USPS Unit?

The USPS Unit works on behalf of the designated-operators who are members of the USPS Cooperative and is part of the International Bureau of the UPU in Berne, Switzerland.

The USPS Unit provides a global focus to allow the worldwide USPS network to better meet the needs of postal customers by providing a number of services to support USPS operators.

The USPS Unit is an administrative body working for postal operators and does not deal with individual customer inquiries. If you need to find information about an USPS item please find the relevant contact information on the USPS on the USPS Global Network page.

3. I have just sent an item using USPS, how do I find out where my item is?

Please contact the postal operator that sent your USPS item, or the EMS operator in the destination country, if you want to locate your USPS item.

The USPS Unit works on behalf of postal organizations and is therefore unable to answer customer USPS tracking inquiries.

Individual USPS operators in each country manage the postal tracking information and their Customer Service departments can answer general USPS queries or help you locate your USPS item.

4. Why haven't I heard of USPS in my own country?

Sometimes postal operators do not use ‘USPS ‘ in their name and brand their USPS delivery service using a different name e.g. Speedpost or International Express Post.

Despite this, if they are a member of the USPS Cooperative, they will be following the same high standards and procedures of all other USPS Cooperative members. The details of USPS operators can be found on the contact us page.
